I am disappointed
I have been using AdBlock to block *annoying* ads (such as pop ups, pop unders, porn ads) for years now. I have even contributed. However, recent events caused me to start being concerned about the future people behind AdBlock hope to see. It frightens me. Right now, I as a web developer -- live off advertisements. In the future AdBlock hopes to achieve, there are no ads and people make no income. But do you know what will that lead to? Paywalls, monopoly, the web will be no longer free as in beer, and free as in freedom. That's why o am forced to remove AdBlock and start a counter-advertisement campaign against AdBlock.
See http://dontblockads.com/ on 15th September 2013 when it will go live.

Hi,
I understand that you feel that AdBlock is harmful to the web. We obviously feel that it is a good thing or we wouldn't be working on it.
We hope to be able to find ways to make everyone happy, but our first commitment is to give users control over their browsing experience, just like content creators also have control over what they give away and what they charge for.
Thanks,
Tomáš

I'm fine with AdBlock so as long as it doesn't choose to utterly destroy current web scheme. Right now the balance between savvy adblock users (who block everything) is relatively low... What if it goes up by 30%? Website income will go lower and will cause many people to shut down theirs.

Even the website you are hosting your anti-advertisement campaign video on is funded mostly off advertising. The sole fact that you can upload your video for free on YouTube and people can watch it for free is due to advertisements. Are you saying that people who create content shouldn't receive money for it? Are you saying that websites should only be big companies that charge users money for subscription instead of free model with advertising?

Seriously... Such a cheesy slogan as "This is the last advertisement you will ever see" is frightening. To a lot of people. I am hoping this campaign will fail and I will do everything in my power to make it fail. Even if it means spending thousands of dollars. Why? Because you will ruin my life, and life of many other people.

By saying "we simply want people to have a choice" you are dangerously close to saying that a person should have a choice whether or not to pay for bread, butter, milk or anything he gets from any store. Yeah. I should have a choice. If I don't want to pay for food I will take it for free.

Go make AdBlock for something that needs it and advertisement is morally wrong on. Like Xbox 360 dashboard. You pay for the console, you pay for the service -- yet they serve you ads.
