I am running a Mac with 10.9.3 and AdBlock 2.6.37 and Safari 7.0.4

Automatic updates are ON.

I keep getting a window that says, "AdBlock cannot be updated" - screen shots attached.

whimper

Now what?

This is a common problem with some versions of Safari. Currently, the only
workaround is to reset Safari and reinstall AdBlock or use Chrome or Opera.

    Hi Carol,

In older versions of Safari, you can reset Safari by clicking Safari (in the menu bar) > Reset Safari…

As newer versions don't allow this anymore, you can also follow the instructions in our Known Bugs section, which provide a link to download an app that should fix this issue for you.
