Adblock is no longer adblock

I know that it's nice to get some extra money from companies that want nonintrusive ads shown, but I got addblock a while back almost exclusively to block youtube ads, and now they're back. I feel a bit betrayed be this, it's like building a nice fence around someone's yard in a neighborhood full of loud, obnoxious neighbors, then having people pay you to get past the fence and scream incoherent things at the person inside while wearing a million flashing multicolored lights. The people inside will (and already are) start to hate you for doing it. Trust me, you're getting enough money from AdBlock Plus, no need to bend to the idiot corporations we sought to avoid.

The YouTube ads have caused us a bit of a problem recently (we are getting reports every day). If you want to help, please answer the following question:

How did you load the video? Was it through clicking the "Watch on YouTube" link in an embedded video, or clicking a link inside youtube.com, or something else?

Also, note that we are AdBlock (from getadblock.com) not AdBlock Plus (adblockplus.org) a separate company. We do not operate a whitelist, we let users whitelist the sites they want to support, by providing simple "Don't run on this page" links in our toolbar button.

ah, that clears things up :P

It usually occurs when going through a link in descriptions for me.

This is the current workaround that we have that turns of the built-in Chrome flash, and instead uses the flash download from the Adobe website:

Note: This only works in Chrome. This will not work in Opera and other Chromium-based browsers

    1. Go to chrome://plugins
    2. Open "Details" using the link in the top-right
    3. Under "Adobe Flash Player", you should see 2 versions of flash showing.
    4. Find the version listed as "Type: PPAPI" (found just above the "Disable" link).
    5. Disable the PPAPI flash, and make sure that the other version of Flash is enabled.

If this doesn't help, reply and reopen this discussion.
