not blocking youtube ads (chrome)
Can you provide detailed steps on how to reproduce the problem?
- open youtube on chrome
- click on video link
What should happen when you do the above
steps
sometimes, there are no ads but other times ads still appear
despite having adblock installed
What actually happened?
was working normally the whole day but suddenly stopped blocking
ads(those that play before and during the videos and those on a
part of the page). initially thought that they were the occasional
one or two that were missed out but i have been manually reporting
ads for the past few hours including last night (at least around 40
and they just keep appearing). tried reinstalling adblock, deleting
the settings file and restarting browser/laptop but nothing
worked.
*there are actually no ads on the search result page but they do
appear after you click on the video link
Do you have any other comments? If you can, can you please attach a screenshot of the bug?
chrome(Version 43.0.2357.81 m), adblock(version 2.34) and filter list are up to date. works well on other websites. also i submitted a private bug report last night "stops blocking ads on youtube" and it was said that a special token would be sent to my email but i don't think it was sent - not found in mail or junk even thought the address was correct.
--- The questions below are optional but VERY helpful. ---
If unchecking all filter lists fixes the problem, which one filterlist must you check to cause the problem again after another restart?
Technical Chrome users: Go to chrome://extensions ->Developer Mode -> Inspect views: background page -> Console. Paste the contents here:

ads reported continue to pop up. an example is the ad in attached files 'ad 2' and 'ad 3'. i had reported it numerous times but it is still popping up.

Hi Eunice,
Can you please provide a link to a page where this is happening? It's difficult to pick up the address in the screenshots you sent.

you might have to try a few times. ads appear more often for the first one(about 8 out of 10 times) while it's a lot less frequent for the second one. also, same the thing happens regardless if i'm using chrome in the normal mode or incognito mode(with adblock enabled)

Hi Eunice,
Ads in YouTube videos returned in the last few days. This is caused by a bug introduced in a recent Chrome upgrade. The workaround is to disable the YouTube app in Chrome. Please see this Knowledge Base article for details.
(If you don't have the YouTube app and you're seeing ads in YouTube videos, please let us know!)
