Ad Block Hi-Jack Concerning Battlelog in Battlefield 4
English only!
Please answer the following questions so that we can process
your bug report, otherwise, we may have to ignore it.
Also, please put your name, or a screen name, and your email above
so that we can contact you if needed.
If you don't want your report to be made public, check that box,
too.
Can you provide detailed steps on how to reproduce the problem?
- I was using Battlelog to play Battlefield 4 and when clicking
on a tab it opened another tab in Chrome with a fake MSE warning to
call a toll free number.
-
As stated I use AB (AdBlock) in conjuction with Google Chrome and after running all known malware utilities none were found.
-
Going into Settings in Chrome I noticed that AB was showing something to the effect that it was not the real or original version and even though it was shown being used there was a note in the Extension files stating that this version is not recognized by Chrome. I deleted the AB
What should happen when you do the above steps
What actually happened?
Clicking on anything in Battlelog produced things that are very
similar to the screenshot taken and attached. Not all were the same
but they were very similar.
Do you have any other comments? If you can, can you
please attach a screenshot of the bug?
I used AdWare remover that seemingly removed some Chrome temp files
but the issue still persists and found that the majority of the
re-directs stopped when I removed AB reset Chrome and re-installed
AB but there seems to be lingering issues with AB. I do not view
porn or visit any sites other than the occasional YouTube sites
just to give you an idea about my internet habits. I mainly game
and use the email services.
--- The questions below are optional but VERY helpful. ---
If unchecking all filter lists fixes the problem, which one
filterlist must you check to cause the problem again after another
restart?
I have since gone into AB and removed all filter lists and
currently do not Whitelist anything. Technical Chrome users: Go to
chrome://extensions
->Developer Mode -> Inspect views: background page ->
Console. Paste the contents here:
I would like to send the ''Inspect views: background
page->Console'' but can not find the way to do it. When I click
Developer Mode in chrome://extensions am unable to see how
to continue to get what it is you request. Please advise. I use Ad
Block, Ad Block Plus, Ad Block Pro and Ad Block Super. ====== Do

Hi Sam,
Have you played on this Battlelog site before without issue? Because what you're describing sounds a lot like a site that's hosting malware.
Can you please uninstall all of your extensions (note which they are so that you can reinstall them later) and scan your computer with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free for Windows? (Note, we're not affiliated with them in any way. Their software just seems to catch viruses others miss.)
This article from Google Chrome Help on how to stop unwanted pop-ups or homepage changes may be helpful. Please also see the following Knowledge Base articles for general information about AdBlock and malware:
BTW, no worries about not providing the console log. We don't really need it in this case.
