Please answer the following questions so that we can process your bug report, otherwise, we may have to ignore it.
Also, please put your name, or a screen name, and your email above so that we can contact you if needed.
If you don't want your report to be made public, check that box, too.

Can you provide detailed steps on how to reproduce the problem?

  1. Browse to http://www.edmunds.com/whats-hot/
  2. Receive the following pop-up: "You expect reliable, objective info from Edmunds - for free.
Help us keep it that way by turning off your ad blocker for our site.

Click on this icon in your menu bar: [AdBlock icon]"
3. Adding the entire domain, pausing AdBlock, etc. and reloading, including ctrl+F5, will not stop this pop-up from occurring.

What should happen when you do the above steps
Adding Edmunds.com domain as an exclusion, and/or pausing AdBlock, should disable this pop-up.

What actually happened?
The pop-up persisted.

Do you have any other comments? If you can, can you please attach a screenshot of the bug?

If unchecking all filter lists fixes the problem, which one filterlist must you check to cause the problem again after another restart?

    Hi Guillaume,

Usually, the filter lists that AdBlock uses to determine what resources to block don't consider self-promotion like this to be ads that need to be blocked. All is not lost, however! If you're on a site that's refusing to show content if AdBlock is installed, please follow the instructions in this Knowledge Base article about websites detecting AdBlock and let us know how it goes!

A quick alternative (if you don't mind seeing ads, of course!) is just to disable AdBlock on that site. Click the AdBlock button and select Don't run on pages on this domain, and then click Exclude.

    Rhana,

    Thanks for the reply!

After almost a week the website now recognises that I've excluded its
domain from AdBlock. If you look at the screen shot I included, the AdBlock
icon is greyed out. For that week even if AdBlock was fully paused
Edmunds.com refused to let me view its content.

It seems that the concern has resolved itself for now.

    Best,

    Guillaume

    Hi Guillaume,

My apologies, I completely missed that the AdBlock icon showed AdBlock was paused. Recently users have been encountering sites that fail to recognize that an ad blocker is use is in fact disabled. Eventually, the sites are fixed. That must be what happened here.

In any case, I'm glad all is well now! Please let us know if the issue returns. You can reopen this discussion at any time by replying to the email. :)
