How do i know if ad block is runnung properly on my computer?

I am not at all computer savvy. How do I know if AdBlock is functioning properly?

    In the Safari toolbar, you should see a little button with a stop sign (it will be black and white). If you click on it, a menu will pop up with options such as "Don't run on this page", "Don't run on pages on this domain" and "Pause AdBlock".
