"Pop-up" tabs in Chrome

When I navigate within web sites in Chrome, it keeps opening crazy ad pages in new tabs. This is still happening with AdBlock installed. I'm new to AdBlock, so I've probably missed some setting to prevent this. I've tried clicking on the new tabs and blocking but that doesn't seem to work. Can you help me, please?

    Hi deke,

The ads you're seeing are most likely malware or adware. Can you please attach a screenshot with the ad(s) clearly marked? That will help us determine which type of malware it is.

    Hi deke,

Hm. When I pause AdBlock, I don't see any ads at all, let alone a new tab like the one you saw. Did you start at http://steelcase.com?

Let's get some basic information. Please click the AdBlock button and select Options, then click SUPPORT. Next to "Have our team requested some debug info?" click here and paste the text from the box into this discussion.

Yes, I have the Steelcase website open in one tab in Chrome. When I click on any navigation link it opens a new tab with the random website. In this case it was another furniture site. But I've gotten anything from health insurance sites to TV listings on something called Pluto. I have Internet Explorer running on the same computer and I only have the problem in Chrome.

    Hi deke,

Ah, that sounds like adware all right. It's possible the screenshot you originally provided cut off the part where it would say which ad(ware) service is injecting those ads. Can you please attach another screenshot, this time of the entire browser window?

I closed that tab but, yep, you are right. Here's the bottom of the one I just got:

    Hi deke,

Aha! That was what I needed to see. The ads you're seeing are indeed adware. AdBlock can only block ads that were on webpages in the first place. You can read how to remove the Ads by Arcade Cake adware on Malwaretips.com.

Please see the following Knowledge Base articles for general information about AdBlock and malware:

    Hope this helps!
