I would like AdBlock to filter ads on Microsoft Edge. I have only installed Windows 10 today and have set Google Chrome as default browser. Microsoft Edge seems to over ride this and it has ads and more ads which is so annoying (you have spoilt me you see!) Also one popping up telling me I have a virus and need them to check PC etc etc. I am so pleased with AdBlock and have been using this for some time now. Can you please advise me what I have to do? Thanks. Aileen

    Hi Aileen,

It looks as if you have a couple of things going on. First, Microsoft Edge doesn't yet support browser extensions such as AdBlock. When it does (later this year, according to Microsoft), we'll have a version of AdBlock ready for it. Please follow our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, or Google+) for updates.

Second, and of more concern, those pop-ups you're seeing are caused by malware. Please don't EVER call the phone number they advertise. Don't even click on anything in the pop-up. The instant you see one of these, quit your browser. You may have to use the Windows Task Manager to do that. These pop-ups hijack your browser so that you can't close them without clicking the action button, which will invite all kinds of havoc into your computer.

I strongly advise scanning your computer with a good antimalware and antivirus program. Malwarebytes makes a very good free antimalware program for Windows. (Note, we are not affiliated with them in any way. Their program just seems to catch malware that others miss.)

I hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!

Thank you so much Rhana. I feel much more relieved now. I knew not to open the pop-ups, just clicked the X to close, which of course they didn’t and then I did exit the Browser. I use Google Chrome as my default anyway. I have Kaspersky Antivirus program, but will now add antimalware program for Windows. I will keep watching your social media pages. I constantly tell people about AdBlock (my son recommended me to you years ago). I really admire the work you are doing. Kind regards, Aileen Popple
