However I can’t find it on my ‘All programmes’
list as I would like to have a desktop icon where I can access the
programme to switch it off temporarily if necessary. (Some
downloads won’t work with your programme active). I can find
it on Chrome in the extensions, but even here what I have seems so
different from your knowledge base.

No mention of Internet Explorer

On chrome on the Extensions there is no 'No show
button'

On the page 'How do I tell Adblock not to run' I can't get
anything like your illustration up on my computer - where is this?
The best I can get is customize Adblock, but this is not the same.
I just want to temporarily disable the programme.

Can you help?

Happy New Year! AdBlock doesn't support Internet Explorer. Are
you by any chance thinking of Adblock Plus (ABP), which does run in
IE? ABP is an entirely unrelated product developed by a different
company. You can reach them at http://adblockplus.org.

Thanks for your prompt response. Happy New Year.

I have Adblock. This is it:

AdBlock

2.45

The most popular Chrome extension, with over 40 million users!
Blocks ads all over the web.

Details
chrome-extension://gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom/options/index.html
Options

Allow in incognito

Enabled

I also use Chrome but prefer IE. Nevertheless my basic questions
still hold as I still don’t know about desktop icons or how
to turn it on or off.

Kind regards

Yes, that's AdBlock all right! The picture in our Knowledge Base
article is a little out of date.

Because AdBlock is a browser extension, not a standalone
application, it doesn't appear on the desktop or in a list of
installed programs.

There are three easy ways to prevent AdBlock from running when
you need it not to. Click the AdBlock button in
your browser's extensions bar, then select:

Pause AdBlock to stop it entirely on every
website until you select Unpause AdBlock

Don't run on this page to allow ads to appear
on the current web page

Don't run on pages on this domain to allow ads
to appear on any page on the current website

I hope this helps!
