Ads that you're required to interact with?
Hi. I was recently at an airport with quasi-free wi-fi. I say
"quasi-free" because in order to gain access, users are required to
watch and interact with an ad, for example by selecting which
product they like most or which way they are most likely to want to
use the product. I spent a long time trying to figure out where to
click on the page in order to gain wifi access before, on a whim,
allowing ads on that page, and then I figured it out.
I wonder whether there is some way to let AdBlock users know that
there might be a "useful" ad on a page that they are missing? I
have no idea whether such ads are coded differently, but I imagine
it would be useful to lots of people to know when they're blocking
ads that they actually need for some reason.
On the other hand, it was great for me to actually have to interact
with AdBlock. I paid for the software when I first loaded it on my
computer years ago, and I love it so much precisely because I never
have to do anything with it... but that means I haven't paid you
nearly enough, since it's something I forget I'm using. (NPR
reminds me on a regular basis that I need to pay for their
services, but you guys don't--not that I'm complaining. Just means
you haven't gotten your due.)
All.

Hi Sharon,
Going through our outstanding tickets as part of our year-end roundup, I came across your lovely thank-you note/suggestion. I never told you, and I apologize for the oversight!, that I passed your note to our entire team, who loved it. It also sparked a lively and ultimately very productive discussion about ads that are actually useful, which may eventually lead to our taking AdBlock in a new direction.
My apologies for the very late response. Have a happy new year!
