Floodwatch and AdBlock
Hey,
I'm sure you guys are aware, or perhaps already in the process of working something out between you, but there is a lovely new Extension i have found that has trouble running with AdBlock, yet is coming from a very similar standpoint, and would beautifully complement each other if they could work together. The extension is Floodwatch, (https://floodwatch.o-c-r.org/):
"Floodwatch is a Chrome extension that tracks the ads you see as you browse the internet. It offers tools to help you understand both the volume and the types of ads you’re being served during the course of normal browsing, with the goal of increasing awareness of how advertisers track your browsing behavior, build their version of your online identity, and target their ads to you as an individual. We want to assemble the largest amount of advertising data we can — and then not give it to the advertisers.
We want to empower everyday users with at least as much information as the advertisers have about them, and put choice back in your hands."
Just thought i would start a post as there was not already one, if anything just to get more people aware, and somewhere for others to post who would also like the two to work together.
I do realise this is more a issue for Floodwatch to work out, but again, this will at least get the question out there, for some reason...

Hi Sam,
Thanks for the heads up! What's exactly the problem when both of the extensions are running alongside?

Flood-watch picks up on ads through finding images on the page after it has loaded, so cant pickup on the ads that have been blocked by AdBlock. Guess if Adblock could send a list of the ads blocked across to Floodwatch. No idea though. Just really like the idea of using both together.

Hi Sam,
Apologies for the super late reply! We're mostly volunteers or part-timers here at AdBlock support, and we've been digging out from under a ton of backlogged requests.
We agree, this is an interesting idea! it turns out this isn't possible with the way AdBlock works, however.
