Hello AdBlock!
I've enjoyed AdBlock for several years now, so thank you for all that you've done.
I wanted to give you a suggestion- a slight pivot from the AdBlock model, that would probably be trivial for you to implement.

Working name: "Stop the Stupid".
Instead of blocking ads, you block the comment section to websites. As everyone knows, the comments area is often a cesspool of the worst of humanity (see: Youtube), and I'd love to (and would pay for) have the ability to shut it off entirely.

And similar to the AdBlock model, you could allow a small list of approved commenters to circumvent the block - similar to the few ads that you allow through.

Please consider it. You'd be doing humanity another great service.

Cheers!

John

    Hi John,

Thanks for the suggestion, that's an interesting idea! I'll pass it on to the rest of the team.

Technically, something like this could probably already be possible if someone made a filter list with the relevant blocking or hiding filters for various comment sections, although disabling that on a specific website would require whitelisting it, or looking for the relevant filter to disable on that website.

Please however note that unlike other ad-blockers, AdBlock doesn't have a whitelist — all ads are blocked by default!
